I had a wonderful holiday, a wonderful break from work, and a wonderful reunion with family and friends. And now...only 12 glorious hours from now I will re-enter the day-to-day routine of juggling teaching, kids, household, and everything else that I have been blessed to endure. The difference? Without being so cliche, I am truly looking to this new year to bring me out of the funk of anxiety, over weightedness, and an extremely sedentary lifestyle. Nope! No more. It's not just that while enjoying sitting on my behind watching the Jenny Craig commercials over and over and over have somehow encouraged me, but it's more a wanting and willingness to take control. I mean seriously, when you have to look at yourself day in and day out and you can remember your previous body- you just want to go back. Not having invented a time travel machine yet, I figure~my legs work...I should really use them to better my health.
My prayer to Jesus the other night was not to do the "lose 30 lbs" resolution, rather it was to embrace a HEALTY 2008. Health- that word that is the sole contributor to our well-being. I prayed for His guidance and pereseverance to embrace healthy eating habits, exercise routine, spirituality, relationships, way of teaching, way of mothering and wifing, and in turn..a healthy lifestyle. Filled with healthy thoughts and healthy actions. There's nothing extraordinary about me or the way I live now, but I have a deep sense that the Lord wants more from me. So there you go!
I will not write on about the long list of things that I need to change, I will just take each new day as a clean slate. (Leaving room for error of course), but hopefully not too many!
Happy New Year!
