Crossroads...

I'm 30. That's not old, but it is "old enough" to want to adapt my lifestyle to one that helps improve my overall health. I've become rather enamored with TV shopping products. I could sit and watch one after the other and be ready to order whatever is being sold! If it weren't for Greg, I might turn into one of those old ladies who stockpile millions of products around the house.
However, I am becoming more aware of healthy eating habits. The initial thought came when my cardiologist said, "Now kerri, you just will not be able to exercise like regular people.. you may be able to walk-low-impact, but working out..not so much". Option: have my chest cracked open again to fix my valve, and THEN I might be able to workout. Now for those of you who know me, that's a joke. Are you kidding? I was relieved. I HATE working out. Just never been one of those. So, I figure, I'm not a gym rat, but I can control what I eat. The second realization about healthy eating came along with this Daniel Fast I've been on. 20 days so far, actually, truth be told, this last week I HAVE been eating normally at home and/or for one meal. But the rest of it is fruits and veggies only. I just saw the ad for the Jack Lalanne Juicer and now I sooooo want to be a juicer! (not the machine, but a person who juices) ALL fruits and veggies, peeling and all can be juiced and ingested in seconds. There used be days I'd go without a single glass of water or a single fruit or veg. And I felt like CRAP...
Looking for practical info on organics and healthy eating.
PROBLEM: Greg is a horrible junky. My kids are becoming junky and I feel it is important to teach them healthy eating habits, but the hub won't support it.... I know this b/c upon starting the Fast, the man came home and baked choc chip cookies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK--thoughts? comments? help?? tips???

When you figure it out, let me know. I drink almost no water and I love junkie foods. I definitely need to be more healthy. I know I would feel so much better!

I love your posts- you are so witty! Wish I could be more like that! I could really write you a book on "healthy" eating but it isn't necessarily fun and you will open yourself up to all sorts of ridicule. You know your body, so listen to it. I suggest starting with a naturalist or even visiting a health food store- is that "carrot" store still in Lexington? Visit one of their "Wellness specialists" and talk to them about the way you feel, medical history etc and see what they recommend. Then start researching on your own....it ain't easy and look out....you may become lumped in a group of us "natural freaks" but you will feel like a million bucks- I promise! I've got lots of tidbits whenever you're ready.....Way to take the bull by the horns!
