In high school, I was in a group of "best friends" who coincidently waged war against each other, but nonetheless, where there was one, there was 15! I mean, seriously...who can have 15 best friends? Well, I must say that I absolutley LOVED my high school experience. I was not the pretty one, the smart one, nor was I the popluar one, but something about my big group of friends made me realize the bonds that shape within girls. Since high school and really more recently, I have made efforts to keep us together or at least provide opportunities for us to be together. Some are not willing, some are nervous, and some are down right stubborn about reconnecting. Me? Who the crap cares? We shared so much. Regardless of how trivial, our days at Irmo High and forming what came to be known as the Bridge Club somehow inspired us and shaped us into to working moms, high-class executives, health professionals, measley school teachers, and stay-at-homes moms and women we are!
So, here's what I think..... we suck, we rock, we hate, we love (and I am still pretending to be Carrie Bradshaw), but I love my life. I hate that I struggle with the whole fear thing, but I know that the Lord loves me and made me who I am. I also know that the Lord puts people in my path to make me who I am. Oh I have major faults. I have major sins. And I have major heart. I Just found out that one my "best friends" from high school is a big time girl....but one who does good. And while initially I want to be envious of her success, I am proud of her accomplishments and that she has done well for herself and for her world.
So, see life as you may. I see it as a puzzle. Each piece is a contribution to the life you lead and the life that will better those around you. Afterall, our only assignment, for those who trust in the Lord, is to better your life for the sake of His kingdom.
